25 Days Of Christmas Celebration # 1 - Shop Feature With Cloud Nine Designz

Beginning with our 1st Day of our 25 Days Of Christmas Celebration, we welcome Mandee, the artsy crafter behind Cloud Nine Designz! Mandee has some really interesting stories to tell not only about her beautiful shops, but also about herself!

Being a full time crafter, you’ll find not only lots of gorgeous pieces of jewelry in Mandee’s shop, but also wine charms, magnets and ceramic coasters! On the other hand, Mandee is also a supplies seller, so you should visit her second shop – Cloud Nine Supply Shop - for beads, washi tape, buttons, stamps and much more craft supplies! Continue reading and find out Mandee’s incredible stories!!!

My name is Mandee, I am 32 and married. My husband and I live in West Chester, OH. Cloud Nine Designz is my full time job. My husband is a GM of a restaurant and we have two cats.

I had a previous shop on Etsy called, "Mupp Creations." I started selling greeting cards and then taught myself to make jewelry and that took over my life. I had heard of Etsy before and it took me a while to figure out if I wanted to try it out. I was on Etsy a few years and then my husband and I both lost our jobs on the same day when the company we worked for filed for bankrupt. I had done a few fare shows and my long time goal was to do this full time. So, we decided to turn my hobby into my full time job and an LLC. Cloud Nine Designz was born. I thought of the name late one night while trying to fall asleep. I wanted people to give, or get something from me, or buy for themselves and be happy. I want you to wear say a pair of earrings and feel like you’re on Cloud Nine, because the piece reminds you of a happy event in your life, or a friendship.

Story Behind The Creations

I come from an art family. My Mom painted and crochets and knits. My sister is an interior designer for a big design company. My other sister is artistic as well. So, we can say, it’s in my blood. I grew up cross stitching and writing. Then moved on to painting and restoring items and then on to card making and now jewelry. I have also started painting glass vases.

What A Typical Day Is Like

I keep two planners: one for my life and one for my work. You will always find me with a notebook and a sketch book handy. I live by making lists and using post it notes. I think it is important to know when to stop for the day and spend time on yourself.

I get up in the morning and check emails and Instagram, facebook and twitter. I don't want to spend too much time there because they can suck you in and then a whole day is gone. Do a few team activities in the morning. Work on orders that come throughout the day. Work on new items, photos and listings. Go over my notes for the week. See if I need to apply for any shows or get ready for a show. Write a blog post.

I think it is very important to help others. If you know me, you know I love volunteering and charity work. I used to be on the Etsy Angel's Team. It is now closed, but we donated a portion of our sales each month to a charity and held a BNR one day of the month as well.

I also have a supply shop and I would love to grow that: cloudninesupplyshop.etsy.com I sell in two Brick and Mortar Stores. I just want to have more people learn about my two shops and eventually have my own store.

"Make friends on Etsy. Tell everyone you can. Help people and in turn people will help you."

The SPS Team wishes you the best of luck, Mandee and we hope you’ll have your own store very soon! We would also like to thank you for your time and for sharing your stories with us!

Visit Mandee’s Cloud Nine Designz and Cloud Nine Supply Shop for more beautiful creations!

  1. Thanks for sharing your story, Mandee. Your jewelry is beautiful. I'm on Cloud Nine just looking at it! I truly believe that when someone draws on the spiritual element in their work then something magical happens and it shines in what they do. You exemplify that, Mandee. What an honor to be on this team with you!
