The SPS Team is an international team of artists, artisans and creators working together to promote their finest work!

Every week we are happy and proud to introduce a member of our outstanding team! They come from different backgrounds, countries, cultures and artistic horizons, but they all have one thing in common : they are driven, creative, dynamic, and dedicated to their Etsy business and to their team, SPS Team!

Today we are thrilled to introduce Rose, a jewelry designer and craft lover from Ontario,
Canada! She opened her shop called "All You Need is Beads" in October 2013.

In Rose's shop you will find an amazing assortment of handcrafted jewelry, including earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and more! You can also find some beautiful men's jewelry, and unique art and gift items.

Let's meet Rose and learn about her Etsy adventure, what inspires her, the social media platforms she likes to promote on, and the role Etsy fellow shop owners and teammates play for her.

 All You Need is Beads

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Rose, I just recently turned 60 on January 18th. I have been married for 25 years, which was on January 20th. I have two children, a 24-year old daughter and a 22-year old son. Yes, I was a late bloomer!!! My husband is a marine engineer and is away for almost 10 months of the year. So some could see why I need a creative outlet.

I have always loved crafting. It's in my personality I guess to be creative. I have always had a desire to make and give away items. And I don't just do jewelry. I also like painting, drawing, and experimenting with many mediums. My craft room always looks like an explosion went off in it. They say that's the sign of a creative person. I guess I'm really creative!!!!

How did your Etsy adventure begin? Tell us about the opening of your shop, your first sale, etc.

I began selling on Etsy over a year ago because I really needed to have somewhere to sell my things, or quit making them. A friend suggested Etsy, and I was hesitant at first because I had never heard of Etsy, and thought to myself, "Who would want to buy my items?"

After much consideration, I decided to give it a go and of course did what probably every new shop owner who doesn't have a clue does. Uploaded all my items, tried to fill out all the required fields and sat back and waited for the sales!!! Well of course there was nothing, then one or two trickled in. I was thrilled, but perplexed as to how do all the others get people to find their shops.

It's been an uphill learning curve for me, and I have learned a lot by asking and reading every bit of information I could get. I'm sure I do not have it all figured out, but now I have so much more insight thanks to SPSTeam and all the other teams I have joined.

Why do you sell on Etsy? As a hobby or full-time job, etc.

I guess I would have to say that this is more of an outlet for my hobby. I do not count on it for my living as some other might. I do not want to be over whelmed with it.

Are you a buyer on Etsy as well? What do you usually look to buy?

I have made purchases from other Etsy shops. What I look for are supplies. Usually things that I cannot find around my town.

What are the specific challenges for a jewelry designer and creator?

I think jewelry is a little challenging. I like to cater to all ages, not just one group. I am not always up on what is current. It may be part of my down fall to not focus on one age group in particular, but since I do not have to make a living at it, I am free to do so.

I love to go find unusual things and turn them into a wearable items. Some might think it's crazy, and I'll admit, some of my designs are crazy, but I always say every one is different, we all have different tastes, and maybe somebody out there will just love it. And it has happened. I also get inspiration right from the beads or items I have picked up because I saw some potential in it.

How do you organize your time? How does a typical day selling on Etsy look like?

A typical day for me is to promote on all my teams of which there are currently 10. I plan it so that I can promote on two teams every hour, then if I do have an order, get it ready and shipped. If there is no order, I might go and try to design something new and different. I try and balance my shop and my home, and not get over whelmed by it all. I do not work out side of the home so it is easier for me than some others I'm sure.

What is the one thing you would like to change most on Etsy to accommodate your business?

I think that there is room for improvement on Etsy. I do not really understand how to read all the graphs to learn where most of my sales do come from. I am currently working on trying to drive traffic to my shop from outside Etsy.

I have a couple of pet peeves, but they are minor. Like why isn't there a system in place that keeps track of the hearts that need to be clicked in order to promote? Or at least have the hearts stop turning red when you have reached your limit.

Which is your favorite social media to use and recommend to other sellers for cross-promoting?

The easiest social medias for me is Pinterest and Facebook. I also use Twitter, Tumblr and Bestie. I promote for others on Facebook as much as possible and wish that they would reciprocate. This would benefit us all. I also realize that we don't want to bother our friends with our business, but they have the option to unfollow if they want to.

I recently read that Pinterest posts stay around for a few weeks where as tweets are only minutes, and that you should re-pin your items at least every two to three weeks. I also wish that the successful sellers would be more forth coming with tips.

In your opinion, what makes Etsy so unique?

There is a wonderful community of people on Etsy, and I am slowly getting to know some of them. Wonderful people just like me who participate on teams, share what they are doing. It's exciting to me that they are from all over the world. That's what makes Etsy so unique, You can communicate with all of the shop owners and share thoughts and ideas.

How does a team such as SPS Team help you with your Etsy business?

SPSTeam was my very first team. I found it while going through the list of teams to join. I really can't tell you why I picked and joined it at that time, but am so glad I did. I would so love to see more participation in the threads from such a large team.

The SPSTeam was and still is a wonderful group of people who have always helped me with any problems I have had, or have done their best to explain things to me.

I always dreamed of retailing my items, but always doubted myself. I am always proud when someone wears and loves my items.
