"I love making jewelry. In particular I like to use authentic Murano
glass that I buy from my master beadmakers every summer when I go home
to visit my folks. Lately I have been experimenting with semiprecious
gemstones and wire. It's fun.
I have been creating my pieces for about ten years and have placed many of them in good homes all over the world.
The Olimpia necklace is one of my latest creations. This piece reminds me of the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. Sometimes the water is so clear that you can see all the different shades of blues under the surface. I absolutely love the vibrant colors of the focal bead and the contrast created by the blue bead and the silver-colored seed beads in the necklace. I try to give every one of my creations a name. I look at them and get inspired.
The beads "talk" to me when they are still just lonely beads. As I work on the necklace, I get inspired on how to finish it. Sometimes a necklace or a pair of earrings sit on my worktable for months until I find just the right piece to finish them off.
Olimpia was easy for me. I fell in love with that bead the moment I saw it in the shop. To me, it is so beautiful that it almost hurts me to look at it.
Its name comes from a friend. Olimpia lived in a beautiful palazzo in Venice with frescoes of gods and goddesses on the ceilings. Olimpia makes me think of the paintings by Tiziano and Veronese, who so beautifully portrayed grace and elegance in their scenes. This necklace is dainty, simple and delicate, but it has a lot of character. It's perfect for any occasion!"
